Abstract Objective:To observe the effects of the treatment of laser photocoagulation for diabetic macular edema by hd-oct.Method:Consecutive 50 patients( 94 eyes) diagnosed with macular edema by examinations of fundus fluorescein angiography( FFA) and optical coherence tomography( OCT) were divided into three types:localized macular edema, diffuse macular edema, cystoid macular edema.Focal photocoagulation was performed to localized macular edema,grid photocoagulation was performed to diffuse macular edema and cystoid macular edema.Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), fundus exam, FFA and OCT examinations before and after laser photocoagulation( 3,6,12,18 months) were followed, analyzed and the final BCVA and CMT were compared with the ones before treatment.A diagram of curves about CMT was drawn.Result:The BCVA of localized macular edema before the treatment and the final was( 0.62±0.14),(0.68±0.12) respectively( P<0.05), the CMT was( 311±42)μm,( 262±40)μm respectively( P<0.05).The BCVA of diffuse macular edema before the treatment and the final was( 0.46±0.16),( 0.48±0.13) respectively, the
CMT was( 365±59)μm,( 325±47)μm respectively( P<0.05).The BCVA of cystoid macular edema before the treatment and the final was( 0.40±0.13),( 0.41±0.10) respectively, the CMT was( 526±97)μm,( 413±92)μm respectively( P<0.05).The CMT changes before and after treatment presented the“ peak” shape.Conclusion:Typing the diabetic macular edema by hd-oct can accurately forecast the visual acuity and macular morphology configuration after laser photocoagulation.Mechanism of laser photocoagulation and intravitreal medicine is probably different.
