Abstract Objective： To compare the difference between laparoscopic appendectomy （LA） and open appendectomy（ OA） for appendicitis in young adult patients， and to explore the clinical value of the LA.Method：261 cases were selected in our hospital which had been divided into LA group of 168 cases and OA group of 93 cases.The operative time， blood loss， postoperative complications and overall cost of treatment and so on were compared.Result：The result showed that the LA group had obvious advantages in intraoperative diagnosis and operation and reducing postoperative complications.Conclusion：This paper concludes that LA group will certainly be more widely used in clinical practicebecause of its shorter hospital stay， fewer complications， cosmetic effect and other advantages.
