Abstract Sepsis is a kind of syndrome that causes multiple organ failure due to the host's maladjusted response to infection. The intestinal flora plays a role in maintaining the intestinal barrier function and regulating the immune system. Studies have found that the balance of the intestinal flora in patients with sepsis has been seriously damaged, but the specific impact mechanism and therapeutic potential of these intestinal microorganisms have not been fully elucidated. In recent years, the role of intestinal flora in the treatment of sepsis has gradually become a research hotspot. This paper reviews the research progress of intestinal flora regulation in the treatment of sepsis, in order to find more therapeutic targets for clinical treatment of sepsis and improve the survival prognosis of sepsis patients.
