Abstract Objective: To explore the relationship of elderly patients with hypertension and blood pressure variability in patients with type 2 diabetes and cognitive function. Method:A retrospective analysis was performed on clinical data of 120 elderly patients from March 2011 to November 2014,and were divided into two groups. Hypertensive patients were control group only, elderly hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus patients were the observation group, with 60 cases in each group. Two groups of patients in general, cognitive ability and the 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure( 24 h ABPM) changes were observed and compared.Result: The observation group of patients with 24 h systolic blood pressure standard deviation, 24 h systolic blood pressure variation coefficient, systolic blood pressure standard deviation during the day, during the systolic blood pressure variation coefficient, nocturnal systolic blood pressure standard deviation and nighttime systolic blood pressure variation coefficient were higher than the control group patients, statistically significant difference (P<0.05). While the rest of the 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure index compared with the control group had no obvious difference, no statistical significance(P>0.05).The observation group of patients with cognitive ability was better than control group, the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The blood pressure variability in elderly hypertensive patients with diabetes increased, and there is a close relationship between
the increase of loss and cognitive function.
