Abstract Objective:To discuss the relationship between the characteristics of lipid body distribution and carotid artery intima-media thickness in patients with type 2 diabetic.Method:76 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(type 2 diabetes group) and 34 healthy subjects( control group) were enrolled in this study.WC,HC,W,BF,TrF,UF,LF,IMT,serum leptin levels were detected, and WHR,BF%,TrF/BF were calculated.Differences of the above indexes between the two groups were compared, and the relationship between the characteristics of lipid body distribution and carotid artery intima-media
thickness on patients with type 2 diabetic were analyzed.Result:WC,WHR,BMI,BF,TrF,UF,LF,BF%,TrF/BF,IMT,serum leptin levels of patients with type 2 diabetes were significantly higher than those of control group(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that BF,TrF,UF,LF,BF%,TrF/BF were positively correlated with IMT,serum leptin levels (P<0.05),serum leptin level was positively correlated with IMT(P<0.05).Multiple regression analysis showed that TrF/BF and leptin were the independent risk factors of IMT.Conclusion:The distribution of body fat in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are abnormal,IMT and leptin increase significantly, and IMT and leptin are closely related with fat distribution characteristics.
