Abstract Objective: To investigation the effects of heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with oblique lateral interbody fusion (OLIF) on intervertebral space height, vertebral canal diameter, vertebral canal area and lumbar spondylolisthesis in the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. Method: A total of 70 patients with lumbar spinal stenosis admitted to the Inpatient Department of Spine 1, Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2021 to May 2022 were selected and divided into the conventional group and the experimental group according to the random number table method, with 35 cases in each group. The conventional group was treated with OLIF, and the experimental group was treated with heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with OLIF. The scores of TCM symptoms, visual analogue scale (VAS) scores of waist and legs, Japanese orthopaedic association scores of lumbar, the indicators of vertebral canal microinflammatory state, and intervertebral space height, vertebral canal diameter, vertebral canal area and lumbar spondylolisthesis were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Result: After treatment, the scores of TCM symptoms in the experimental group were significantly better than those in the conventional group (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS and JOA scores of the experimental group were better than those of the conventional group (P<0.05). After treatment, the indicators of vertebral canal microinflammatory state in the experimental group were lower than those in the conventional group (P<0.05). After treatment, the intervertebral space height, vertebral canal diameter, vertebral canal area and lumbar spondylolisthesis in the experimental group were significantly better than those in the conventional group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with OLIF therapy for patients with lumbar spinal stenosis can improve their lumbar function and reduce clinical symptoms and inflammatory reactions.
