Abstract Objective: To explore the application value of psychological nursing in mental illness nursing. Method: Clinical data of 150 patients with mental illness admitted to Zhangping Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed, and the patients were included in observation group (n=75) and reference group (n=75) according to different nursing modes. The reference group was given routine nursing, and the observation group was given psychological nursing. The scores of the Chinese version of the stigma scale for mental illness (SSMI-C), the ability to assess activities of daily living (ADL), the nurses', observation scale for inpatient evaluation (NOSIE) and the world health organization quality of life scale-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) before and after nursing were compared between the two groups. Result: After nursing, the SSMI-C scores of discrimination, disease concealing and positive effect and NOSIE score in the observation group were lower than those in the reference group, while ADL and WHOQOL-BREF scores were higher than those in the reference group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of psychological nursing in mental illness nursing can reduce the stigma experience of patients, enhance their ability of daily living activities, reduce their disease conditions and improve the quality of life.
