Abstract Metabolomics is a new emerging biological detection technology that can describe the biological phenotype and comprehensively analyze metabolites. It has been widely used in basic and clinical research because it can visually reflect the physiological or pathological conditions of the body. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of neonatal survival rate, paying attention to the short-term and long-term healthy life of neonates has become a hot research topic for pediatricians. This paper reviews the application of metabolomics in prenatal diagnosis, prediction of neonatal premature birth, growth and development, nutritional strategies and early recognition, diagnosis, and efficacy evaluation of common neonatal diseases, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the guidance of neonatal nutritional strategies and disease prevention and treatment.
