Abstract Objective: To explore the influence of Sevoflurane for blood indexes of postoperative inflammatory stress and cognitive state of elderly patients with abdominal surgery. Method: A total of 80 elderly patients with abdominal surgery in Nanjing Meishan Hospital from December 2019 to December 2020 were chosen as the research object, and they were divided into control group and observation group with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Propofol, the observation group was treated with Sevoflurane. Then the cognitive state (MMSE score) at 1st and 7th day after operation, serum inflammatory stress indexes [interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-16)] and cognitive state related indexes [Tau protein (Tau), neuron specific enolase (NSE) and S100B protein (S100B)] before the operation and at 1st, 3rd and 7th day after the operation of two groups were compared. Result: The MMSE scores showed that the total incidences of cognitive dysfunction in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at 1 d and 7 d after operation, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05), the serum inflammatory stress indexes and cognitive state related indexes of two groups before operation were compared, the differences were not statistically significant (P>0.05), those serum inflammatory stress indexes and cognitive state related indexes of observation group at 1st, 3rd and 7th day after the operation were significantly lower than those of control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The Sevoflurane can significantly control the blood indexes of postoperative inflammatory stress and cognitive state of elderly patients with abdominal surgery, so it is helpful for patients to recover after operation.
