Abstract Objective: To study the expression of VEGF and SSTR and their correlations in patients with gastric cancer. Method: 90 patients with gastric cancer treated from January 2010 to December 2014 in our hospital were selected as gastric cancer group and 60 healthy check-ups were selected as control group. Through
immunohistochemistry staining methods, the expression of VEGF and SSTR in different gastric mucosa tissues were detected. Result: The positive rate of VEFG in gastric cancer group was 62.2%( 56 cases); the positive rate of VEGF in the control group was 8.3%( 5 cases)( P<0.05); the gastric cancer group contained 73 positive cases in SSTR1( 81.1%), 67 positive cases in SSTR2( 74.4%) and 47 positive cases in SSTR3( 52.2%); the control group contained 47 positive cases in SSTR1( 78.3%), 56 positive cases in SSTR2( 93.3%) and 51 positive cases in SSTR3(85.5%); the positive expression of SSTR1 of the two groups was not significantly different( P>0.05); the positive rate of SSTR2 and SSTR3 of the gastric cancer group was lower than that of the control group( P<0.05). VEGF expression was significantly correlated with SSTR2 and SSTR3 expression in gastric cancer tissues( P<0.05); VEGF expression was not closely correlated with SSTR1 expression( P>0.05). Conclusion: VEGF is highly expressed while SSTR is lowly expressed in gastric cancer tissues. VEGF is negatively correlated with SSTR, which indicates that the up-regulation of VEGF during signal transduction of occurrence and development of gastric cancer will cause the loss of SSTR.
