Abstract Objective:To search an executive ability evaluation system for head nurses. Method:Evaluation index system was established by Delphi method together with suggestions from experts in two rounds, the optimal sequence diagram method was used to determine the weights of the first level index, the expert evaluation method was used to determine the weights of the second level index.Result:The index system established comprised two levels: with 8 indexes of the first level index( task decomposition ability,understanding of mission ability, authorization ability, process control ability,communication ability, learning and innovation ability, responsibility of execution and evaluation ability) and 41 others on the second level index and the value coefficient was given to each index.Conclusion:The results of two rounds’ expert consultation with the reliability of the index system constructed from multiple dimensions reflect the characteristics of executive ability for head nurses and offer a objective assessment for head nurses.
