Abstract Objective:To study the diagnostic value of bone mineral density measurement by quantitative computed tomography of lumbar for vertebral fracture,to improve the sensitivity of QCT in the diagnosis of vertebral fracture. Method:20 injury patients who received thoracolumbar CT and MRI examination in our hospital from July 2012 to July 2013 were selected as the research objects.11 patients with obsolete vertebral fractures for more than 3 months in our hospital from January 2012 to July 2012 were also selected as the research objects. The area of marrow edema in MRI were selected as the region of interest(ROI).The scan data of 28 fresh vertebral fractures,14 old vertebral fractures and their adjacent vertebral bodies were analyzed by the QCT PRO station in order to catch the BMD of cancellous bone. Result:The BMD of cancellous bone in the fresh fractured vertebral bodies was higher than that in their adjacent vertebral bodies, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).There was no statistically significant difference in the BMD of cancellous bone between the old fracture vertebral bodies and their adjacent vertebral bodies(P=0.125). Conclusion:The BMD of cancellous bone in the fresh fracture vertebral body increases and the BMD of cancellous bone in the old fracture vertebral body can reflect the characteristics of renovation in vertebral body.Using spine QCT to measure the BMD is valuable in the diagnosis of vertebral fracture.
