Abstract Objective: To observe the effect of Zoledronic Acid combined with conventional western medicine on bone metabolism indexes and health status of type 2 diabetes patients with osteoporosis. Method: A total of 160 patients with type 2 diabetes combined with osteoporosis admitted to Affiliated Hospital of Chifeng University from January 2019 to February 2021 were selected, they were randomly divided into two groups according to random number table method, the control group was treated with conventional western medicine, and the study group was treated with Zoledronic Acid combined with conventional western medicine. Bone metabolism indexes [blood phosphorus (P), blood calcium (Ca), bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP), osteocalcin (BGP), β-collagen fragment (β-CTX)] and health status [physical functioning (PF), role-physical (RP), bodily pain (BP), general health (GH), vitality (VT), social functioning (SF), role-emotional (RE) and mental health (MH)] were compared between the two groups. Result: There were no significant differences in P and Ca between the two groups after treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, BALP and BGP levels in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and β-CTX levels were lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of PF, RP, GH, VT, SF, RE, MH and BP in both groups were higher than those before treatment, those in the study group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: In the clinical treatment of type 2 diabetes patients with osteoporosis, Zoledronic Acid combined with conventional western medicine is helpful to improve their bone metabolism and improve their health.
