Abstract Objective: To explore the clinical effect of accommodation training combined with convergence training in the training of children with true convergence insufficiency. Method: Using the random number table method, 60 children diagnosed with true convergence insufficiency in the First Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi Medical College from January 2021 to February 2022 were divided into two groups, including 30 cases in the observation group and 30 cases in the control group. The control group received convergence training while the observation group was combined with accommodation training on the basis of the control group. The related parameters such as amplitude of accommodation (AMP), accommodation flexibility (AF), near point of convergence (NPC), accommodative convergence/accommodation (AC/A) and positive fusional convergence (PFC) and insufficient convergence were compared between the two groups before and after training, both groups were treated for 6 courses (15 d was one course). Result: After training, the NPC of ocular parameters in both groups decreased, and the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05); the AMP, AF, AC/A and PFC in the two groups of children were increased, and those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05); the scores of convergence insufficiency symptom survey (CISS) were declined in the two groups, and the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Accommodation training combined with convergence training is aimed at training children with true convergence insufficiency, which can adjust the ocular parameters and improve the convergence insufficiency of children.
