Correlation Analysis between Environmental Risk Factors Exposure before Pregnancy and Early Pregnancy and Congenital Heart Disease in Offspring |

Abstract Objective: To explore the correlation between the exposure of environmental risk factors before pregnancy and early pregnancy and the occurrence of congenital heart disease (CHD) in offspring. Method: In this study, a 1∶1 frequency matched case-control study was used to screen the pregnant women who underwent prenatal examination and fetal echocardiography in Weifang People's Hospital from 2015 to 2022. 41 pregnant women diagnosed with congenital heart disease were selected as the case group, and 41 pregnant women with similar gestational age and no abnormal fetal detection were selected as the control group. Relevant influencing factors before and during the first trimester of pregnancy were investigated in the form of questionnaires after delivery. The possible influencing factors of offspring CHD were analyzed by multifactor logistic regression after the questionnaire survey. Result: Before pregnancy and early pregnancy decoration of pregnant women's houses, long-term consumption of pickled food by pregnant women, smoking by pregnant women, noise from pregnant women, exposure to biochemical substances by pregnant women, air pollution around pregnant women, use of cold medicine, antiviral drugs, cough suppressants by pregnant women, and smoking by the father of the offspring before pregnancy were all risk factors affecting the occurrence of CHD in the offspring (P<0.05). Before pregnancy and early pregnancy folic acid supplementation was a protective factor in reducing the occurrence of CHD in the offspring (P<0.05). Conclusion: Pregnant women should avoid exposure to the above risk factors during the first 3 months and early pregnancy, and supplement folic acid on time and in proper amount, which has important value in reducing and preventing CHD in their offspring.
