| Effect of Warm Needling Method and Western Medicine Comprehensive Therapy on Elderly Knee Osteoarthritis Patients and Its Influence on Serum Inflammatory Factors |

Abstract Objective: To study the clinical effect of warm needling method and western medicine comprehensive therapy in elderly knee osteoarthritis patients. Method: A total of 94 elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis admitted to Jingdezhen City Hospital of Chinese Medicine from July 2020 to March 2022 were selected, they were divided into two groups according to random number table method, with 47 cases in each group. The study group received warm needling method and western medicine comprehensive therapy, while the control group only received western medicine comprehensive therapy. Total response rate, symptom scores, inflammatory factors, visual analogue scale (VAS) score, knee joint function (Lysholm knee score), limb motor function [Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA)], ability of daily living (ADL) and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Result: The total effective rate of the study group was 91.49%, which was higher than 74.47% of the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant differences in all dimension symptom scores, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), hypersensitive C reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-17 (IL-17), VAS, Lysholm, FMA and ADL scores between the two groups (P>0.05); after treatment, all dimension symptom scores, IL-1β, TNF-α, hs-CRP, IL-6, IL-17 and VAS score of the study group were lower than those of the control group, while Lysholm, FMA and ADL scores of the study group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the study groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The effect of warm needling method combined with western medicine comprehensive therapy is more ideal, which can promote the rapid reduction of symptoms, reduce inflammatory response, improve the function of the patient's knee joint and exercise ability, and enhance the ability of daily life.
