Abstract Objective: To explore the effect of liniment and washing with Chinese herbs on postoperative limb swelling and pain in patients with early limb closed fracture. Method: A total of 100 patients with early limb closed fracture who underwent surgical treatment in the Second People's Hospital of Jingdezhen from January to September 2022 were selected and divided into the observation group (n=50) and the control group (n=50) according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine, the observation group added liniment and washing with Chinese herbs treatment on the basis of the conventional western medicine treatment scheme. The swelling, pain degree of the affected limb, the quality of life and complications were compared between the two groups. Result: After 2 weeks of treatment, the swelling scores in both groups were decreased (P<0.05), the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, the VAS scores in both groups were decreased (P<0.05), the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, the scores of WHO quality of life (WHOQOL-100) scale in both groups were improved (P<0.05), the score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The complication rate in the observation group (6.00%) was lower than that in the control group (20.00%) (P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of liniment and washing with Chinese herbs in the treatment of early limb closed fracture can improve the swelling of affected limbs, relieve the pain of patients, improve the quality of life, and reduce the incidence of complications.
