Abstract Objective: To explore the clinical effect of percutaneous microwave ablation and laparoscopic hepatectomy for small hepatic carcinoma. Method: A total of 84 patients with small hepatic carcinoma treated in the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of the Second Hospital of Longyan from March 2021 to January 2023 were selected as research objects and retrospectively analyzed. According to treatment methods, they were divided into control group and experimental group, with 42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with laparoscopic hepatectomy, and the experimental group was treated with percutaneous microwave ablation. The changes of liver function indexes, surgical indexes, postoperative hospitalization time and the total incidence of postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Result: 1 month after surgery, alanine aminotransferase, serum total bilirubin and aspartate aminotransferase in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, and albumin was higher than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The intraoperative bleeding volume in the experimental group was less than that in the control group, and the surgery time was shorter than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The postoperative hospitalization time in the experimental group was (4.89±1.67) d, shorter than (8.79±3.45) d in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The total incidence of postoperative complications in the experimental group (2.38%) was lower than that in the control group (21.43%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Percutaneous microwave ablation for small hepatic carcinoma has a good clinical effect, which can effectively reduce the incidence of complications, shorten the surgery time and hospitalization time, and promote the rehabilitation of patients.
