Abstract Objective: To investigate the correlation between polar body morphology of oocyte and fertilization, embryonic development after in vitro fertilization (IVF). Method: From July 2017 to July 2022 in the Assisted Reproduction Department of Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Yichun City, the oocytes at 4-5 h after IVF were divided into group A (second polar body group), group B (broken polar body group), group C (first polar body group) and group D (multipolar body group) according to the polar bodies after degranulation after fertilization. Then the fertilization situation and embryonic development situation of four groups were compared. Result: The total fertilization rate and normal fertilization rate of group A were significantly higher than those of group B, group C and group D, the rates of group B and group D were significantly higher than those of group C; the D3 high-quality embryo rate of group A was significantly higher than those of group B and group C, the D3 high-quality embryo rate of group B was significantly higher than that of group C; the unfertilized rate of group A was significantly lower than those of group B, group C and group D, the rates of group B and group D were significantly lower than that of group C, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05), the available blastocyst rates of four groups were compared, the differences were not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: The polar morphology of oocytes after IVF is closely related to fertilization and embryo development, the advantages of second polar body is more prominent, and it is feasible to select embryos by blastocyst culture.
