Abstract Objective: To investigate the changes and significance of the receptor activator for osteoprotegerin (OPG) and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand( RANKL) in gingival crevicular fluid( GCF) in postmenopausal women with periodontitis. Method: To follow careful sampling of GCF with moisture absorption paper point strips in patients. The level of OPG and RANKL was detected using ELISA technique. Result: The GI, PLI, PD,AL difference was significant between the two groups( P<0.01). There was significant difference in levels of RANKL,OPG and the ratio of RANKL/OPG in GCF between the two groups( P<0.01). Conclusion: The result suggests that the increasing production of RANKL and reducing production of OPG maybe associated with the initiation and progress of periodontitis.
