Abstract Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL) and trans-ureteroscope lithotripsy( URL) in the treatment of incarcerated upper ureteral calculi. Method:140 patients with incarcerated upper ureteral calculi were selected and divided into MPCNL group and URL group,70 cases in each group. The different efficacy of two groups were compared. Result: The operation of MPCNL group’s stone clearance rate after 3 d and 30 d were significantly higher than the URL group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The MPCNL group’s operation time, hospital stay time, gross hematuria time and the total expenses were significantly higher than URL group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidences of adverse reaction of two groups were not statistically significant different(P>0.05). Conclusion: In the treatment of incarcerated upper ureteral calculi, the stone clearance rate of MPCNL is higher than URL, but the surgical trauma of URL is less and the expenses of URL is lower than MPCNL.
