Abstract Th17 cells and Treg cells are new subsets of CD4+ T-lymphocytes, who are different from Th1 and Th2 in the process of development and differentiation, and can also regulate each other in function. The Th17 cells mainly mediates the occurrence of the body’s inflammatory response and autoimmune diseases, while the Treg cells play an important role in inhibition of immune function and maintenance of immune steady state. Also there is a relationship of mutual transformation between them. The current studys find that Th17 and Treg cells are involed in inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases and tumor development and also in oral diseases. This article makes a review on the function and regulation of Th17 cells and Treg cells and relations between them and oral mucosal diseases.
