Abstract Objective：To explore the expression and clinical significance of TFPI-2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Method：The expression and clinical significance of TFPI-2 in normal esophageal epithelium，adjacent tissues and esophageal squamous cell carcinomaby Immunohistochemistry.Result：The positive index of the expression of TFPI-2 in normal esophageal epithelium，and adjacent tissues，and ESCCs were respectively（27.76±5.30）%，（22.41±7.24）%，（16.25±9.57）%.The positive index of the expression of TFPI-2 in normal esophageal epithelium，and adjacent tissues，and ESCCs showed an increasing trend，the result was significant（P<0.05）.Among ESCCs，the index of the expression of TFPI-2 was negative correlated with the degree of malignancy（rs=-0.292），lymph node metastasis（rs=-0.315），size（rs=-0.444），invasion depth（ rs=-0.647）and TNM classification（rs=-0.772）.And there were no difference in patients with different age，sex，tumor location and pathologic type.Conclusion：TFPI-2 is relate with the growth，metastasis and invasion of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma，is an effective indicator to determine the prognosis of patients.
