Abstract Objective: To know the risk factors of occupational exposure among nursing staff, in order to provide some effective protective measures for them and reduce the risk of occupational exposure. Method: Through the analysis and summary which contrapose to the 37 occupational exposure registration of nurses in our hospital. Result: Among total 364 nurses( including student nurses), 37 nurses suffered the occupational exposure( 37/364,10.16%). The exposure
categories include sharp injuries, skin injuries and the others. 89.19% was sharp injuries( needle stick injuries account for 94.12% in sharp injuries) and skin injuries account for 10.81%, 5.58% for the others. 15 cases( 14 person-time) were exposed to hepatitis B cases blood( 39.47%) ,3 cases were exposed to hepatitis C patient blood( 7.89%), 2 cases were exposed to the HIV-positive cases blood( 5.26 %), 2 cases were exposed to the treponemapallidum( 5.26%), 3 cases were not exposed to the pathogens of hematogenous infection( 10.53%) and the rest were not sure(31.58%). 27 in the 37 nurses who suffered the occupational exposure haven’t been infected by occupational exposure during more than six months’follow-up. The others haven’t been infected by occupational exposure during more than three months’ follow-up. Conclusion: Nurses are the high-risk group of sharp injuries, especially needle stick injuries. So we must take a further effective measure to prevent occupational exposure.
