Abstract Objective:To investigate the application of the Tei index, which reflects right ventricular( RV) function and to observe the clinical use of the Tei index for the patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Diseases.Method:30 patients with SLE and 30 healthy controls were evaluated with routine echocardiography, all the patients internalized were not suffered with heart disease. The RV Tei index was measured by TDI.The peak velocities of diastolic and systolic tricuspid annulus in the right ventricular lateral wall( Ea,Aa,and Sa) were obtained.Result:(1)Compared with controls, the RV Tei index measured by TDI was significantly higher in the SLE group( P<0.05).(2) The RV Tei index in the SLE group measured by TDI was correlative with PASP( r=0.707,P<0.001 ﹚ .Conclusion:(1)The Tei index is a novel and non-invasive method to assess RV systolic and diastolic function in patients with SLE.(2) TDI is a better method than conventional echocardiography in assessing RV function.(3)The Tei index is a sensitive and specific method to assess PH in the patients with SLE.
