Abstract Objective:To detect the changes of serum adiponectin, procalcitonin(PCT),tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-alpha),interleukin-6(IL-6) level, and explore the changes of serum adiponectin level in patients with sepsis and its relationship with inflammatory markers.Method:30 cases were sepsis patients group which was selected from severe medicine department of the third people’s Hospital of Zheng Zhou city from January 2011 to January 2014,and 30 healthy persons were enrolled as healthy control group.Tested fast peripheral blood specimens In patients diagnosed with sepsis before breakfast and scored acute physiology and chronic health conditions examination(APACHE) II at the very day; so do the healthy control group as well.Bloodspecimens were sent to the hospital laboratoryfor the blood glucose, blood lipid, blood routine test of C-reactive protein(CRP) and the PCT testing;the adiponectin, tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-alpha),interleukin-6( IL-6)level were tested by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Result:There were no significant in two groups of gender, age,BMI,blood glucose and blood lipid differences(P>0.05).The serum adiponectin level of sepsis group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05),the difference was statistically significant as well;the WBC,neutrophil percentage,CRP,PCT,TNF-alpha and IL-6 in sepsis group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.01),the difference was statistically significant;and there was a negative correlation between serum adiponectin and APACHE score(r=-0.753,P<0.01). There was a significant negative correlation between the serum adiponectin concentration and CRP,PCT,TNF-alpha and IL-6(r=-0.356,-0.548,-0.281 and -0.315,P<0.01).Conclusion:The serum adiponectin level of patients with sepsis decreased ,which has a correlation with the inflammatory markers;adiponectin might play a role in the systemic inflammatory response in septic patients, that may have certainreference value for judging severity and prognosis of the sepsis patients.
