Abstract Objective：To investigate the effect of hachong Shisan Wei Pill on apoptosis of hippocampal cells after ischemic brain injury.Method：After establishment of SAH model， the percentage of apoptosis and Bax/Bcl-2 protein expression level of the nerve cells were detected by the flow cytometry and Elisa . Result：Compared with the control group，the apoptosis percentage and the Bax protein expression of model group were significantly increased，and the Bcl-2 protein expression were decreased（P<0.05）.Compared with the model group，the apoptosis percentage and the Bax protein expression of Zhachong Shisan Wei Pill group were significantly decreased， and the Bcl-2 protein expression were increased（P<0.05）.Conclusion：Zhachong Shisan Wei Pill has protective effect on hippocampal cells after cerebral ischemia by decreasing the nerve cell apoptosis，regulation of apoptosis related gene Bax/Bcl-2 expression is one of its anti-apoptosis mechanism.
